Sungai Air Tawar rep wont contest in GE

Sungai Air Tawar assemblyman Datuk Raja Ideris Raja Ahmad said today he would decline to be fielded for the sixth time in the next general election.

"I feel it is time for a younger leader to take over," said the 69-year-old.

Raja Ideris, who had held the Sabak seat for four terms and won the Sungai Air Tawar seat in the general election in 2008.

In that general election, Raja Ideris beat Azrulkhakim Suradi of Pas by a majority of 123 votes.

Raja Ideris said he was confident that the Barisan Nasional (BN) would recapture Selangor in the next general election.
