Sungai Limau: 15,046 voters have so far cast their ballots

A total of 15,046 or approximately 55% of voters in the Sungai Limau state constituency have cast their votes in the by election-for the state seat as at 12 pm.
Election Commission chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said no incident of voters being stopped from casting their votes was reported so far.
"We are confident that if the trend persists and the voters are not distracted from casting their votes, the voter turnout will be bigger than the 89% voter turnout recorded during the 13th general election," he told
reporters when monitoring the voting process at Sekolah Kebangsaan Dulang Monday.
He also refuted the allegation that the decision to hold the polling day on a working day had made it difficult to voters to cast their votes, saying that the voters were mostly padi farmers and fishermen.
Sungai Limau has a total of 27,222 voters and they comprise 25,323 or 93% Malays, 1,842 Chinese (6.7%), 15 Indians (0.6%) and others.
The by-election for the Sungai Limau state seat sees a straight fight between the Barisan Nasional candidate, Dr Ahmad Sohaimi Lazim and PAS candidate Mohd Azam Abdul Samat.
