The Sungai Rambai Rural Transformation Centre (RTC) here has been a big hit with the public, attracting some 250,000 visitors since it was opened on Dec 1 last year.
Melaka Agriculture and Entrepreneur Development Committee chairman Datuk Hasan Abdul Rahman said the one-stop centre which provides services from 28 government and private agencies was a big boon for the public as it helped reduce the hassle and cost of obtaining services.
"Not only that, it serves as a catalyst for economic growth for the locals," he said at the RTC's Media Appreciation Night here yesterday.
Eighty-six members of the Melaka Mass Media Club attended the event. The media organisations represented were the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), The New Straits Times Press, Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), Utusan Malaysia, Sinar Harian and Melaka Hari Ini.
At the event, Bernama's Melaka Bureau won the Special Media Award for being the most credible news organisation and took home a trophy, a cash prize and a certificate.
RTM won an award for the best live telecast while Suffian Abu Bakar (Utusan Malaysia) and Farhana Yaakob (Sinar Harian) were named as the top journalists in the male and female categories respectively. -- Bernama
