KUALA LUMPUR: The pollution rate in Sungai Selangor has gone down to the reading of 0 TON (Threshold Value Odor Number) until 2 pm Monday.
Selangor Water Management Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) Chief Executive Officer, Suhaimi Kamaralzaman, said the Sungai Selangor Water Treatment Plant (LRA) Phase 1, 2 and 3 and Rantau Panjang, however, could not be fully operational yet.
Suhaimi said it was because the 0 TON reading must be recorded three times in a row.
“Sungai Selangor LRA Phase 1, 2 and 3 and Rantau Panjang could not be fully operational due to the raw water pollution that occurred in Sungai Selangor.
“Until 2 pm, the pollution rate that occurred in Sungai Selangor recorded 0 TON,” he said.
He said Air Selangor could not produce 2,700 million liters of water a day to be supplied to consumers in 1,292 areas due to the cessation of work at the plants involved.
"However, the 0 TON reading must be recorded three times in a row to ensure that the water is safe to process," he said in a statement on Monday.
He said the cause of the pollution had not been identified.
“Air Selangor will announce the recovery schedule after the LRA starts operating.
“Air Selangor has moved 91 tanker trucks to critical premises and also affected residential areas.
"A total of 34 static tanks, 17 Local Service Centres (PKS) and 21 public pipes have been provided to assist affected consumers," he said.
