Sungai Siput flood begins to ease; 79 victims still remain at relief centres

The flood level following the overflow of Sungai Siput is reported to have eased since Sunday night.
Perak fire and rescue department operations (JBPM) assistant chief, Hasrin Hasbi said 79 victims comprising of 18 families currently still remain at relief centres.
On Sunday, two relief centres - Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Lintang and Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Tok Sirat – were opened to relocate all the flood victims.
Hasrin said, his team remain on alert for any possibilities should the water level increase on Monday evening.
“The water level has decreased to 53.70 metres and its average height today is at 0.3-0.5 metres.
“All the victims will possibly be allowed to return home late this evening, if it is safe. They are however ordered to stay at both relief centres for now,” said Hasrin to Astro AWANI today.
He explained that the two areas affected following the overflow of Sungai Pelus is around Sungai Siput and Lintang and two relief centers had been opened yesterday since around 12.36pm yesterday.
