Superbike rider dies in crash

A high-powered motorcycle rider was killed when his 650cc Kawasaki Versys rammed into a steel barrier at Kilometer 15, Jalan Kuantan-Pintasan near Sungai Karang early in the morning. The victim, Mohd Rosmainie Radzi, 33, a maintenance staff at Megaview Kuantan Hotel, died at the scene due to severe head and body injuries.
Pahang police contingent headquarters traffic chief DSP Mohd Noor Yusof Ali said the crash occurred at 4am when the victim was travelling from Kuantan Port towards Kuantan town.
"The victim, believed to have lost control of his vehicle, rode onto the left shoulder of the road before hitting the road barrier and was flung onto the road," he told Bernama here today.
He said initial investigations revealed that Mohd Rosmainie from Bandar Jengka had a valid driving license and was wearing a helmet.
He said the victim's body was sent to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Kuantan Hospital.
