The government has given the assurance that the daily supply of food is adequate and will continue to meet domestic demand.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said it was based on information from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MOA) which regularly monitors food supply throughout the country.
"The KPDNHEP enforcement officers monitor daily 25 types of supplies at 970 business premises, including retailers (753), wholesalers (168) and manufacturers (31).
"The MOA also assures that wet food such as vegetables, meat, poultry and eggs are more than adequate.
"Therefore, the public is advised not to worry about food and daily necessities in the month of Ramadan as it is guaranteed to be adequate," he told a press conference on the Movement Control Order (MCO) here on Friday.
