Suspect in murder of Form Five student remanded another seven days
The body of Intan Suraya Mawardi (pix) was found covered with a blanket on her bed in the family home in Teluk Kumbar by her father, who returned home at 7.30 pm.
The remand of a youth, who was detained to help in the investigation into the murder of a Form Five student, near here, on Sunday, is extended by another seven days from tomorrow.
A police spokesman here said the youth, 20, a security guard, detained several hours after the victim's body was found, had been remanded seven days prior to this, ending today.
"Police succeeded in getting another seven days' remand from tomorrow until Nov 8 to complete the investigation papers," he said.
The body of schoolgirl Intan Suraya Mawardi, 17, was found covered with a blanket on her bed in the family home in Teluk Kumbar by her father, who returned home at 7.30 pm.
She was believed to have been raped and murdered by her boyfriend.
Penang CID chief, Datuk Zakaria Ahmad was reported to have said that the suspect had allegedly told police he did it because of jealousy.
