The death of Muhammad Hairi Amsyar Abdul Rahman, five, believed to be a victim of abuse of his stepfather – was the result of trauma caused by strong blow of beating that led to severe infection of peritonitis.
Besut District Chief Police, Superintendent Mohd Zamri Mohd Rowi said the strong impact had caused inflammation of the peritoneum.
Mohd Zamri also said that the bruises caused by the strong blow were discovered at the lower back of the boy’s body part.
The post-mortem, conducted at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital here revealed that the tear at the intestine causing inflammation -- that can over time -- be fatal.
In an incident at Felda Tenang, Hulu Besut yesterday, Muhammad Hairi Amsyar was pronounced dead after a checkup at the Emergency Unit of Besut General Hospital at approximately 3.30am.
The victim is believed to have suffered new and old bruises on the lower part of his body.
The victim’s stepfather, 38, had allegedly claimed that the boy suffered an injury after he fell from the motorcycle.
Hospital Besut representatives doubted the man’s allegation proceeded by lodging a police report at the Jertih Police Station at 5.30am yesterday.
