Swift Air Cargo steps forward as 'abandoned' aircrafts owner

Swift Air Cargo, the owner of the three aircrafts which was reported to have been “abandoned” at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) had stepped forward to claim them.

According to its chief executive officer, Captain Blue Peterson, despite being in constant contact with Malaysia Airport Holdings Bhd (MAHB), the company had not acknowledged knowing Swift Air Cargo, as reported by The Star.

The three Boeing 747 aircraft are owned by Swift since June 8 after purchasing it from its previous owner.

The sale which was witnessed by solicitor Syed Amir Ibrahim of Syed Ibrahim & Co was notorised in Hong Kong and stamped by the Malaysian Consulate.

Peterson said that the company had the supporting documents which included the Bill of Sale as proof of purchase.

Senior General Manager of MAHB held his first meeting with Swift Air on June 17 in regards to the purchase of the aircrafts.

Peterson said this was followed by several other meetings where MAHB had requested for more documentation and information.

He said that the company’s last meeting with MAHB chief operating officer and the general manager was on Oct 12.

Peterson added that the company last heard from MAHB on Nov 3.

MAHB had recently requested the owner of the three aircraft abandoned at KLIA to claim it back and added that the planes may be sold or disposed if not collected within 14 days.

In a notice issued by MAHB, the owner of the aircrafts had failed to settle the payment charge imposed on them.

The three aircraft were parked at KLIA’s hanger – B61, B62 and M3.
