Syabas to contribute clean water supply to Batu Caves Temple during Thaipusam

Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) will supply clean water to the Sri Subramaniar Temple in Batu Caves, near here, in conjunction with Thaipusam.
Syabas Executive Director V. Subramaniam handed over five static tanks with a capacity of 600 litres each, to the temple's welfare unit committee, M. Puvibalaraj in the compound of the temple, today.
Subramaniam said, the water would be supplied from tomorrow evening until the night of January 28 (Monday), adding, Syabas tankers would refill the tanks when needed.
"The contribution is to ensure devotees and visitors get clean water supply," he told reporters here, today.
In the meantime, thousands of devotees and foreign tourists had started to throng Batu Caves today though Thaipusam is two days away.
Most came early to perform their vows to avoid congestion on the day of Thaipusam.
The roads heading to Batu Caves have been experiencing heavy traffic flow while police and the Malaysia People's Volunteer Corps (Rela) have begun their task of ensuring security around and inside the temple area.
