The talk by Fariq Naik, son of international preacher Dr Zakir Abdul Karim Naik, titled 'Misconceptions About Islam' which is scheduled to be held at the Penang Caring Society Complex, here this Friday is allowed on two conditions.

Penang Deputy Chief Minister I, Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon, said a special discussion held by the state exco Tuesday morning, decided to allow the programme to be continued on condition it did not touch on or belittle other religions, and the organiser must inform the police about the programme.

"People of all races can attend and listen to the talk for the sake of racial harmony in Penang," he said in a statement here today.

He said the heated discussion on the social media about Dr Zakir's presence in various locations in the country had an effect on the talk organised by the International Islamic Propagation Society (IPSI).

However, Mohd Rashid said, the issue should be handled carefully for the sake of unity.
