TANJUNG MALIM: Tanjung Malim UMNO Division has lodged a police report regarding a banner urging Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to resign as UMNO president.
Its acting head, Mohd Zaidi Aziz denied that it was the work of UMNO members in his division.
Instead, he described it as a slander that has become very common in today's society.
"For me, the banner is a conventional tool but it is still a contributor to the spread of slander and clearly this is also the propaganda of certain parties," he said in a post on his Facebook page today.
Based on the information in Facebook, a police report was lodged by Tanjung Malim UMNO Division Secretary, Sulong Jamil Mohamed Shariff, at the Muallim District Police Headquarters (IPD) in Slim River at 9.43 last night.
According to the report, Sulong Jamil said at about 5.07 pm, he read a short message in the WhatsApp application in the group of Suara Generasi Felda Besout that a banner has been erected on the entrance sign to Felda Besout.
He said the red banner with white letters had the words 'Dato Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi please resign as UMNO president' and under it was written Tanjung Malim UMNO Division with the party logo.
While denying the involvement of Tanjung Malim UMNO Division, Sulong Jamil asked the police to conduct an investigation until the mastermind who committed the act was caught.
"I hope these people would stop. This act of slander will cause various adverse effects and bring damage to society and the country, " he said.
Meanwhile, the same banner was also erected at two locations in Kuala Kangsar.
Kuala Kangsar UMNO Division Head, Maslin Sham Razman in a post on his Facebook account said his party will make a police report today.
