Traffic congestion stretching 12 kilometres occured near Menora Tunnel heading north, after a tanker lorry crashed at 256.5 km North-South Expressway (PLUS).
A PLUS spokesman said the accident at 8.30 am caused all the lanes to be blocked by the tanker lorry and traffic was at a standstill for over one hour.
PLUS has opened a contraflow lane to ease the problem faced by motorists stuck in the traffic congestion.
A Bernama check found that north bound motorists chose alternative routes, namely via Chemor and Sungai Siput before entering toll plaza at Kuala Kangsar.
The traffic situation was under control while the operation to remove the tanker lorry was being carried out. --BERNAMA
