TAR college student killed in bus collision
A Tunku Abdul Rahman College student here was killed when the car she was traveling with three friends lost control before rammed by an express bus in an accident at Km 293.8 of the North-South Expressway near the exit to Gopeng early Saturday morning.
The victim, Chai Yoke Ling, 18, of Kampung Baru, Malim Nawar near here died at the accident site at 3.50am while her three male friends were injured and treated at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, Ipoh.
Kampar police chief Supt Ng Kong Soon said initial investigation found that the Mercedes Benz which was on the left lane lost control and skidded to the right lane before crashing through the road divider.
"The car was then rammed by an express bus carrying 30 passengers," he said when contacted here today.
He said the bus which was on its way to Kuala Lumpur also veered to the embankment before plunging into a drain beside the highway causing four passengers to sustain light injuries.
