Taxi driver accidentally shoots himself after finding pistol in back seat

A taxi driver who found a pistol in the back seat of his taxi, accidentally shot himself in the hand while trying to take the pistol out of the sling bag at a restaurant in Desa Sri Hartamas, here, yesterday. Kuala Lumpur CID chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah said during the 7.30am incident, the 27-year-old taxi driver who is also a part-time bill collector, accidentally shot himself in his left hand while trying to take the pistol out of the sling bag that was found under the passenger seat of his taxi. "After collecting bills at the restaurant, the taxi driver went to his taxi to find for his water bottle from the back passenger seat but saw a sling bag which contained a pistol," he told Bernama. He said it was when the taxi driver was trying to take the pistol out when the pistol went off, hitting the victim's left hand. Police are however, investigating the incident while the taxi driver had to undergo a surgery at the University Malaysia Medical Centre.
