A teacher was killed while two others knocked out after a lightning strike at a secondary school here on Thursday, police said today.
Shah Alam Police Chief ACP Shafien Mamat reportedly said the teacher, Mohd Farhan Masudi, 32, had been teaching at a secondary school in Tanjong Karang.
Bernama reported that the two others, who are in their 30s, whom he did not name, were in stable condition and being treated at the Shah Alam Hospital, he said in a message via WhatsApp.
When the incident occurred, Mohd Farhan and five other teachers had taken refuge at a metal gate entrance of the school hall in Section 11 here at 4.20pm when a heavy downpour began.
The victim and 39 other teachers from Selangor were attending a football coaching course at the school.
A flash lightning struck and Mohd Farhan collapsed to the ground with severe injuries on the upper part of his body, said Shafien.
