Teachers were today again advised not to have anything to do with the Daesh militants and their activities.

Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said they should not be easily influenced by what they read in the social media over the group's activities and so called objectives.

"The greatest danger is they (Daesh) pose huge security threat to the nation. As teachers, you should be able to distinguish between the right and wrong," he said.

He said this at a media conference after presenting the special allocation to Chinese schools from the federal government, totalling RM3.640 million, to 68 such schools from Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, Sri Aman and Betong Divisions here.

Earlier in Bintulu, he presented similiar allocation totalling RM5.4 million to 112 other Chinese schools from Sibu, Sarikei, Mukah, Bintulu, Miri and Limbang Divisions.

Meanwhile commenting on the move by the ministry to send around 400 Islamic religious teachers to Sarawak, he said this had been agreed upon by Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He said they were to fill in the vacuum existing in the state.

"As a matter of fact when we tried to recruit more such teachers in Sarawak, we have not enough takers.

"We cannot let a situation where local Muslim students be deprived of their religious education," he added.
