Teen drowns while saving his friends at Bukit Lagong Recreational Forest

A teenager who managed to save the life of his friend unfortunately drowned when he sank to the bottom of the pool and disappeared in a bizarre incident at the Bukit Lagong Recreational Forest.

Selayang Fire and Rescue Station (Operations) head Mohd Kasirin Ibrahim said in the 2.30pm incident, the victim identified as Narish, 15, saved his friend who nearly drowned while swimming at the recreation centre.

"Based on an interview with his friend, the victim had dived into the pool and rescued his friend by pushing him to the edge of the pool. But soon after sank to the bottom of the pool and disappeared from view," he said when contacted by Bernama, here Sunday.

The victim from Setapak here, had gone for a picnic together with 30 friends Sunday afternoon.

Mohd Kasirin said seven firemen from the Selayang Station who had been deployed to search for the missing teenager found Narish's body not far from where he went missing at 3.37pm Sunday and his remains were sent to the Selayang Hospital for post-mortem. -- Bernama
