Teen girl among eight detained for lift robbery in Setapak condo

Eight suspects including a teenage girl, believed to be involved in the assault and robbery in the lift of a condominium here on Oct 17, were detained on Wednesday.
Wangsa Maju District Police chief, Supt Mohamad Roy Suhaimi Sarif said the suspects were aged between 16 and 33.
In the incident, two men entered the lift on the seventh floor of a condominium in Setapak and attacked a woman, 23, before grabbing her handbag.
"Police later detained four men and a girl at a hotel in Jalan Kampung Batu 5, Jalan Ipoh on Wednesday in a follow up to the case," he told a media conference at the Wangsa Maju District Police Headquarters Thursday.
Mohamad Roy said one of the individuals detained was connected to the lift robbery and had four previous criminal records and wanted in Selayang and Gombak.
"A 125Z motorcycle which was reported stolen in Jinjang was also seized from them," said Mohamad Roy.
Subsequently, he said a 25-year-old man was detained in Taman Setapak Indah at 12.40pm Wednesday and car and two sets of false registration plates were also seized from him.
He said police also detained two other individuals, aged 26 and 33, in separate operations in Taman Sri Ukay and Ukay Perdana at 4pm on the same day.
"All the suspects who were not studying and jobless, tested positive for syabu," said Mohamad Roy.
