Teen IS recruit: Ministry awaits investigation findings on 14-year-old suspect

The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry will wait for the findings of the investigation into the case of the teenage girl who was arrested for wanting to join the IS militant group in Syria, before making any recommendations.
Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim said she was confident that the case would be referred to the ministry as the girl was underage.
"Let the police investigate the case first... but any case involving underage person is normally referred to us under the Child Act.
"We will wait to find out what really happened before making any intervention or taking immediate action to prevent recurrence," she told reporters after visiting old folks home at Rumah Seri Kenangan in conjunction with Chinese New Year here Friday.
Commenting further, Rohani said the arrest of the girl at the KL International Airport as she was about to fly off to Syria last Tuesday was indeed shocking.
"She is only 14 years old and her maturity can be questioned," the minister said.
