An unidentified teenager was killed while a man sustained injuries on his leg when the Malaysian police personnel fired shots at a bush in Kampung Sungai Bilis today morning, as the Ops Daulat enters its sixth day.
Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said the shooting happened when the police rounded up five people in the area who appeared suddenly.
“At 9.45am today, our security forces were moving towards target areas in Kampung Sungai Bilis when two men and three women appeared.
“The police detained the five and started inspecting them when they heard movements from a bush nearby.
Spontaneously, they fired at the bush and found the dead teenage boy who is between 12 to 15 years old and the injured man who is in his 30s,” said Ismail at a press conference at Felda Sahabat 16 today.
Ismail said the detainees, the injured man and the dead boy, who were not armed, have been brought out of the area.
“We are not sure of their identity. They don’t have any documents. We are currently investigating their origins and what they were doing there,” he said adding that the investigations are being done under Section 130 (c) of the Penal Code read together with the new Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma) which has replaced the Internal Security Act.
