Teenage school dropout charged with murdering traffic policewoman

A teenage school dropout was charged in the Magistrate's Court here with the death of a traffic police officer early this month.
The 17-year-old boy was charged with murdering ASP Margaret Tagum Goen, 32, at Batu 4, KM58, Jalan Batu Pahat-Mersing here between 1am and 2.45am last Sept 6.
The charge, under Section 302 of the Penal Code, carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
However, no plea was recorded in the closed-door proceeding held before Magistrate Nuruhuda Mohd Yusof.
The court set Oct 28 for mention.
Deputy public prosecutor Siti Rasidah Abd Radzaz, appeared for the prosecution, while the accused was represented by lawyer Vijaya Sandran.
