Teenager beaten to death by group of men
A teenager was beaten to death by a group of men near the seaside at Ocean View, Sungai Pinang early this morning which police believe stemmed from a brawl.
The victim, Ameer Mustaqim Naharuddin, a 19-year-old cleaner at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) from Jelutong, was severely struck on his head repeatedly, according to police.
He died at the scene.
Penang police CID chief SAC Mazlan Kesah said that in the 2.45am incident, the victim was with three friends at the beach before meeting the group of men who was in the vicinity earlier.
“The deceased was hit on the head by a group of between four to five men,” said Mazlan.
“Investigations reveal that the deceased and his friends, between the age of 16 to 19, had gone to the area where the group was gathered. Not long after that the deceased was attacked, on his head, by the second group, who then ran off,” he said.
Police found tins of alcoholic drinks and a broken visor believed to be from the helmet the suspects beat the victim with.
The case is being investigated as murder, under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
Police have called for witnesses of the incident to contact the nearest police station to assist in investigations.
Ameer's body has been sent to the Penang hospital for a post mortem.
