A 14-year-old girl who was believed to have been kidnapped while on her way home in Klang North, on Sunday, was found safe in front of a petrol station in Banting near here, last night.
Selangor police chief Datuk Abdul Samah Mat said the teenager was found in a car with a man believed to be her boyfriend at about 7.45pm.
"The teenager was found with a 19-year-old male in a car in front of a petrol station in Kanchong Darat, Banting.
"Upon questioning, the teenager said she had 'made-up' the story of her kidnapping, apparently to live free from family," he said in a statement on the Selangor Police Facebook page today.
He said the teenager admitted to living with her boyfriend since the day she went missing.
He said the recording of a telephone conversation between a teenage girl and her adopted sister that had gone viral on social media and gave the impression that the young girl had been kidnapped and taken away by a white van also was untrue.
Abdul Samah said following the case, the police have arrested the teen's boyfriend and another man aged 45, who is a friend of the first suspect (boyfriend).
"The 45-year-old man was arrested at his home in Bandar Sungai Emas, Banting at about 10.15 pm for keeping the girl at his house.
"Both of them would be investigated under Section 363 of the Penal Code, that is for abducting a teenage girl under the age of 16, without the approval or consent of the legal guardian.
Abdul Samah added that the girl who was categorised as a minor, was referred to the Social Welfare Department for further action.
The teenager was said not to have returned home since 2.30pm on Sunday, after she told her mother she was going out to meet a friend.
Subsequently, the victim's mother lodged a police report about her disappearance at 8.20pm on Monday.
A recording of the telephone conversation with the teen which lasted for three minutes 43 seconds, was also believed to be uploaded on social networking sites by members of the family as a step to urge anyone with information on the matter to inform the relevant authorities.
In the recording, the teenage girl cried and begged her family to rescue her, and said many others were detained in a warehouse and that the kidnappers would sell them.
According to the teenager, several men in a white van had kidnapped her while she was on the way home, and the last signboard she saw before her mouth was gagged with a cloth, was Johor Baharu.
