Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz has expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for his appointment as the Finance Minister.
The Chief Executive of the CIMB Group Holdings Berhad (CIMB) thanked Muhyiddin for giving him the opportunity to contribute to the country.
“I am humbled by this enormous responsibility especially at a time when the country is facing unprecedented economic challenges.
“I undertake to give my best to the nation and am looking forward to serving with all the relevant stakeholders in ensuring we remain steadfast and in the spirit of inclusivity and work together to realise our collective aspirations,” he said in a statement following the announcement by Muhyiddin on the new Cabinet line-up today.

Tengku Zafrul, 46, has over 22 years of experience in the financial industry, particularly in the areas of investment and banking management.
He had previously held the position of the chief executive officer of Maybank Investment Bank Berhad and Maybank Kim Eng Holdings. He has also held positions at Citigroup Malaysia, Kenanga Holdings Berhad and Avenue Securities.
Tengku Zafrul is currently a member of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), representing Malaysia in promoting intra trade and cooperation in the Asia Pacific.
As well as advocating for Malaysian socio-economic development, he currently serves on the board of the National Sports Council of Malaysia besides being a trustee of the Perdana Leadership Foundation.
He is also the Honorary Commander of the Naval Volunteer Reserve under the Royal Malaysian Navy.
Tengku Zafrul is a graduate of the University of Bristol, United Kingdom with a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Economics and Accounting and a Master of Arts (MA) degree holder in Finance and Management from the University of Exeter, United Kingdom.
Tengku Zafrul will be assisted by two deputies who are Umno MPs, Abd Rahim Bakeri (Kudat) and Mohd Shahar Abdullah (Paya Besar) in his new capacity as the Finance Minister.
