The Civil Defence Force (APM) will provide fuel supply for sale in small quantities to facilitate motorists on the East Coast Highway 2 (LPT2).

Terengganu APM director Lt Col Che Adam A Rahman said the initiative under ''Ops Bantu'' had been implemented last year and it was able to help consumers, especially motorcyclists.

"Via ''Ops Bantu'' we also provide assistance to road users who face difficulties such as technical problems, punctured tyres and running out of fuel," he told reporters after launching ''Ops Bantu'', ''Ops LPT2'' and ''Ops Selamat'', simultaneously yesterday.

He said this year APM allocated RM100 worth of fuel supply for each district compared to last year where eight districts were covered with an allocation of RM300.

In addition, Che Adam said throughout the implementation of the three operations, APM would mobilise a total of 200 officers and personnel apart from deploying teams at the Perasing rest and service area (RSA) in Kemaman and the Ajil toll exit in Hulu Terengganu.

"Based on experience, when an incident occurs ... the response time (for assistance) will depend on the distance and if it is nearby, APM will reach the location within 10 minutes," he said.

Che Adam said all these operations would be carried out in the districts of Kemaman, Dungun, Marang, Kuala Terengganu, Kuala Nerus, Setiu, Besut and Hulu Terengganu and apart from LPT2, the ops would also cover both federal and state roads.
