Nor Aini Aqilah Hairon Nizam, 3, who has had a hole in the heart from the age of one plus, is set to undergo surgery at a private hospital in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday thanks to the Terengganu state
government.
Her father, house builder Hairon Nizam Abdul Halil, 30, who earns about RM700 a month, said the entire cost including accommodation in the city was being funded by a donation of RM30,000.
Hairon and his wife Nurul Asyikin Ramlan, 27, from Kampung Bukit Choras, Kota Sarang Semut said their plight received the attention of Terengganu Menteri Besar (MB) Ahmad Said during the Sungai Limau by-election campaign recently.
He said Nor Aini has been receiving treatment at the Institut Jantung Negara (IJN), Penang Hospital and Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital.
"We are very grateful to the MB and Terengganu government for their caring and contribution. We hope our daughter will be cured and grow up healthy like other children," Hairon told reporters at his home here on Sunday.
