Terengganu MB issue: PAS lodges police report against news portal

KUALA TERENGGANU: Terengganu PAS today lodged a police report on a portal report commenting on the position of Terengganu Menteri Besar (MB) Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar who is alleged to be in a critical situation at the moment.

Muhyiddin Abdul Rashid, who is the MB's political secretary, said the (news) report was defamatory and malicious and aimed to tarnish the credibility of Ahmad Samsuri's leadership.

"I believe this is done by irresponsible parties to take advantage of and seek cheap political support at a time that the government and the people are facing the COVID-19 pandemic.

"This act of defamation only sets out to create prejudice, provoke public unrest and heighten hatred against the democratically-elected government," said Muhyiddin, who lodged the report at the Kuala Terengganu district police headquarters at 4.02 pm today.

Muhyiddin, who is also the Terengganu PAS Liaison secretary, hoped that an investigation would be carried out as soon as possible on the slander spread by the news portal.
