The Terengganu state government will negotiate with the federal government to request a percentage of management shares of the East Coast Highway 2 (LPT2) from the concessionaire of the North-South Expressway Berhad (PLUS), said Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman today.
He said the LPT2, previously controlled by the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM), will be managed by PLUS beginning next month.
Ahmad Razif was speaking after hosting an Adilfitri open house for about 3,000 Terengganu locals currently working outside the state, especially from the Seberang Takir constituency.
He also presented letters of offer for the haj pilgrimage to 12 pilgrims from the Kuala Nerus parliamentary constituency here.
The LPT2 project, stretching over 184 kilometres, was fully opened on Dec 31 last year, and reduces the travel time from Kuala Terengganu to Kuala Lumpur to four hours.
"After this all costs for repairing LPT2 will be managed by PLUS," he said.
In addition, all the Rest and Recreation areas, food kiosks and petrol stations on the LPT2 will be opened after PLUS starts its operations.
