Terengganu's frozen 'nasi dagang', produced by T-Kitchen, a Terengganu Incorporated subsidiary company is set to penetrate the Australian market by the middle of next year.
Terengganu State Tourism Department director Tun Ahmad Faisal Tun Razak said this was in line with the objectives of Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman to introduce local traditional foods as a tourism product.
"The Menteri Besar wants to extend the marketing of frozen nasi dagang throughout Australia where there are Malaysian students who will indirectly become the state's tourism promotion agents.
"This is because our students can also introduce interesting places in Terengganu as well as the delicious cuisine of the state," he said in a statement Friday.
Tun Ahmad Faisal said besides nasi dagang, frozen keropok (fish crackers) and several other food products have also shown potential to be marketed globally.
"However, these products are still being studied as instructed by the Menteri Besar so that they can last long when stored and are still good to eat," he said. -- Bernama
