KUALA LUMPUR: Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) will provide full cooperation to the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on issues arising from audits carried out by consultants from 2014 to 2020.

TH group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Amrin Awaluddin said TH took note of and welcomed the government's decision to set up the RCI.

"TH is of the opinion that the results of the investigation and views from the RCI will be able to help TH improve in terms of management and governance.

"The governance, integrity and reputation of TH as an Islamic financial savings institution is very important to ensure the confidence of the people in the institution, especially the depositors," he said in a statement today.

Amrin said TH always strived to improve its operations and governance in the best interest of the depositors.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the Cabinet had agreed to set up an RCI under the Commissions of Enquiry Act 1950 (Act 119) to investigate issues arising with regard to TH.

He said the RCI was also to ensure that a transparent and trustworthy internal investigation can be carried out to ensure that LTH had carried out its mandate professionally in managing the deposits of Muslims.
