PUTRAJAYA: Thai Prime Minister, Srettha Thavisin will pay a working visit to Malaysia from Oct 11-12, marking his inaugural visit to the country after being sworn in as the Prime Minister on Sept 5.
During the visit, Srettha is scheduled to have an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah at the Istana Negara on Wednesday (Oct 11), according to a statement by the Foreign Ministry (Wisma Putra).
On the same day, Srettha is also scheduled to meet his counterpart, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim where both leaders are expected to review the progress of bilateral relations, especially cooperation in trade, investment and border security as well as exploring new areas of cooperation such as cyber security, green and digital economy.
"Both leaders are also expected to exchange views on bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interest.
"Wisma Putra is confident that this working visit will further strengthen the already established good relations between the two countries which are also close neighbours and partners in ASEAN," added the statement.
In 2022, Thailand was Malaysia's seventh largest trading partner globally and the third largest among the ASEAN member states, with total trade amounting to RM122.03 billion (US$27.75 billion), an increase of 17.9 per cent compared to RM97.55 billion (US$23.54 billion) in 2021.
