Three fishermen escaped death after the boat they were on overturned at 0.4 nautical miles west of Pulau Songsong, Yan, here, this morning.
Kuala Kedah Maritime Base director Lt Commander Ahmad Kamal Mohd Noor said all of them were found clinging to the boat before they were rescued at around 9.45am by the local fishermen.
He said the victims were identified as skipper Mohd Noor Ishak, 40, Muhammad Shukri Samsudin, 28, and Zainuddin Zainal, 36.
Upon receiving report about the incident, he said a boat from the Kuala Kedah Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency was sent immediately to the location.
"The victims only suffered minor injuries and were brought to the hospital for further treatment after arriving at the Tanjung Dawai jetty around 10.45am," he said in a statement, today.
Ahmad Kamal also advised all fishermen in Zone A to get weather information as a safety precaution before going out to sea.
