Three friends perished in Pekan accident

Three friends perished while another was injured after their car skidded and hit the road divider at KM29.5 Kuantan-Pekan road near Kampung Ubai here early today.

Pahang Administrative/Traffic enforcement officer ASP Zainalabidin Othman said the casualties were the Proton Wira's driver Shahrul Azwan Jaafar Shah, 18, and passngers Mohd Faqih Mohd Nor, 18, and Hasroy Haniff Hamsah, 17.

"In the 12.45am incident, their friend Mohd Hasri Razali, 19, sustained minor injuries and is being treated at the Pekan Hospital," he told reporters here.

The victims, who were from Peramu Jaya, were heading towards Kuantan from Pekan.

Zainalabidin said the bodies had been sent to Tengku Ampuan Afzan in Kuantan for post-mortem.
