Three injured in armed robbery at Kayu Ara petrol station

Three men were seriously injured in an attack by a group of armed men at a petrol station in Kampung Sungai Kayu Ara, Petaling Jaya, early today.
Petaling Jaya district deputy police chief, Supt Mohd Ali Thamby said in the 5.10am incident, the three victims and a friend had stopped to refuel their car at the petrol station when they were approached by 10 men armed with machetes.
"The armed men attacked the victims injuring them. Three victims were rushed to University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) and Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HUKM), while another friend of the victims managed to escape.
"The motive of the attack was robbery and the losses incurred has not been ascertained yet," he said in a statement here.
He said the victims and the suspects were in their 20s and 30s.
Following the incident, police arrested two of the robbery suspects after five of them were attacked by another group of men at Dataran Pelangi Utama at 9am today.
Mohd Ali said in the second incident, the suspects were attacked by 10 men believed to be linked with the robbery victims at the petrol station earlier.
He said three of the suspects had managed to escape but police had arrested two who were injured after being attacked with a sharp weapon. The injured were sent to UMMC.
