Three injured in bombing incident in Pattani

The bomb, weighing 20 km, was placed beside the road and exploded when five members of the security forces were passing the road in an armoured vehicle.
Two members of the security forces and a female student were injured in a bombing incident in Mukim Peng, Saiburi in Pattani, southern Thailand this afternoon.
Saiburi district police chief, Col Mana Dechawaris said the bomb, weighing 20 km, was placed beside the road and exploded when five members of the security forces were passing the road in an armoured vehicle.
"Two members of the security forces and a female student were injured by the explosion," he said today, adding that the three victims suffered light injuries.
Meanwhile, Fourth Division Military Chief, Lt Gen Piyawat Nakwanich came in a helicopter from Pattani to Benang Setar, Yala this afternoon to meet with a man who had agreed to participate in the programme "Bringing Home to the Village" (Bawa Balik Kampung).
The man, Bukhari Hasa was suspected to be a member of the Southern Thailand militant group and had five warrants of arrest for the bombing incident that occurred 10 years ago in Yala.
"Bringing Home to the Village" is a deradicalisation programme by the Thai authorities to help those who had previously been involved in militant activities to be accepted back by the community.
