Three people were killed and five others were injured in a road crash involving five vehicles along Jalan Seremban - Kuala Pilah near here yesterday.
Those killed in the 9.35pm crash were identified as L. Muthu, 63, who was at the wheel of a Mercedes Benz car and the driver of a Wira Aeroback car Mohd Hafiz Shamsudin, 27. Both died on the spot.
The other is Muthu's wife, S. Duggamah, 58, who died on the way to Tuanku Jaafar Hospital.
Seremban district police chief ACP Muhamad Zaki Harun said the crash occurred when Muthu, who was driving to Serdang from Kuala Pilah, lost control of the wheel, causing the vehicle to skid and veered into the opposite lane before crashing into Proton Pesona car driven by Fazrul Anuar Sulaiman, 23.
"It (Mercedes Benz) then collided with Mohd Hafiz' car, causing both vehicles to spin several times, before crashing into a Toyota Hilux, with A. William Dass, 34, at the wheel," he said in a statement here today.
He said the fifth car involved in the crash was a Perodua Viva driven by Khirul Izwan Md Yasin, 24, who failed to apply the brake on time and crashed into the Toyota Hilux.
Besides Khirul Izwan, Fazrul Anuar and William Dass, the others injured in the crash were William Dass' wife, M. Shareenah, 35, and their one-year-old daughter, WD. Daveena Isabel, he added.
He said the injured were also sent to Tuanku Jaafar Hospital for treatment.
