Three killed as two cars collide head-on

Two adults and a teenager were killed after two cars they were in were involved in a road accident at Jalan Kota Baharu-Kuala Krai near the Desa Pahlawan Camp here on Tuesday.

In the 7.25pm incident, Azmad Harun, 46, who was driving a Honda City car was killed along with her son Aidil Adib Alias, 14, as a result of severe head injuries.

Azmad's three other children, namely Aidil Azim, 11, and Azra Afifa, 16, suffered minor injuries while Adam Aqif, 6, was seriously wounded and is receiving treatment at the Machang Hospital.

Ketereh fire and rescue station chief Mohd Rafain Mat Zin said the driver of the other car, a Proton Iswara, Tuan Iswadi Tuan Ismail, 41, died at the Machang hospital.

Mohd Rafain said the fire and rescue department was alerted of the accident at about 7.30pm today and when they arrived, the victims were trapped inside the wreckage and firemen took about 10 minutes to remove their bodies.

In the incident the Honda City car from Kota Baharu to Machang collided with the Proton Iswara which was approaching from the opposite direction.

Meanwhile, state traffic and public order chief Supt Azli Mat Nor when contacted, confirmed the accident.
