The police uncovered a homemade revolver and a cache of ammunition following the arrest of a 40-year old man, believed to be an Indonesian, in Mukah two days ago.
The man was arrested by the Mukah CID team led by Insp Mohd Afiq Shawaldin at 2 pm in front of a supermarket in the coastal town of Mukah after police received a tip-off, Sarawak CID chief SAC Datuk Dev Kumar said in a statement today.
Following the arrest, he said the suspect led police to his container home at a sago factory in Kampung Sau, Sungai Metapus, where the hand gun and 94 rounds of 9mm bullets were found hidden under a bed.
Further interrogation on the man led to the arrest of another 40-year old Indonesian man at about 7.15 pm on the same day at an oil palm estate in Balingian by a police team led by the Mukah CID chief ASP Peter Yong, he added.
He said a Special Investigation Division (D9) operational team from Kuching, led by Insp Kalang Buda, was then sent to Mukah to assist in the probe, which resulted in the arrest of another suspect, a 40-year old local man, at a food court in Mukah town at about 10.30 pm on Thursday.
"We are unable to divulge further details at this juncture so as not to jeopardise the probe," he said, adding that that all the suspects are being investigated under section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971.
