Three million Malaysians still defying control movement order - Chief of Defence Forces

Chief of Defence Forces (ATM), General Tan Sri Affendi Buang said, the figure was still large and needed immediate attention and action.

“Although the rate of compliance has reached 90 per cent, we cannot afford to overlook the remaining 10 per cent.

“Failure is also not an option for ATM, so we will help PDRM instil discipline among the people to obey the orders and directives issued by the authorities.

"ATM also agree that the enforcement of the order is given more attention in high-risk areas such as markets and supermarkets as it has been found that people were still overcrowding and did not practice social distancing," he said in a statement on Monday.

Affendi advised the public not to be influenced by any fake news, especially involving information, photos, videos and voice clips that showcased the military operations on a large scale.

“It can cause anxiety and panic when it (fake news) show a false method in the enforcement of the order.

"In total, 7,500 military personnel from all three branches are assigned to assist the PDRM at 405 roadblock locations and 272 areas to be covered by police patrol cars throughout the country every day," he said.

Affendi has also called on the people to understand that the Movement Control Order was being implemented in the best interests of the people.
