Three Sabah fishermen abducted near Pom Pom island

Filipino gunmen were believed to have kidnapped three Sabah fishermen near Pom Pom island in Semporna today.
The fishermen are believed to have been taken towards southern Philippines island chain of Tawi Tawi province.
Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) commander Datuk Wan Abdul Bari Abdul Khalid who confirmed the incident said Sabah police commissioner Datuk Abdul Rashid Harun will release more details later.
Wan Abdul Bari said they received a report from the owners of the fishing boat at 1.59am who said gunmen had abducted the skipper and two crew members.
On July 9, three Indonesian citizens were reportedly kidnapped in the waters near Felda Sahabat in Lahad Datu.
They were on a trawler fishing when the incident happened at about 11pm.
Four of their fellow crewmen were however released and left on the trawler.
