Three soldiers killed, another injured in road crash

Three soldiers were killed and another was seriously injured when a Honda car they were travelling in skidded and crashed into a tree at Jalan Tanah Putih, Batu 3 here about midnight yesterday.
Acting Pahang Public Order and Traffic Chief DSP Mohd Noor Yusof Ali identified the soldiers killed in the crash as Mohd Fahmi Jap, 25, Mohd Ilias Abu Seman, 23 and Mohd Faizal Zainol, 26.
All of them died on the spot and their bodies were sent to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital for post mortems.
He said the injured was Shamzuri Awang, 23, who had been sent to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital for treatment.
They were with the First Regiment of the Royal Armoured Corps (1 KAD) at Batu 10 Camp here, he told Bernama when contacted here today.
He said the crash occurred at about 11.55 pm during a downpour when Mohd Fahmi, who was at the wheel of the car, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to skid and hit a tree before landing in a drain there.
The car was heading to Kuantan from Gambang, he added.
