Police have busted a group involved in motorcycle theft in the district known as the 'Kutaq Gang', with the arrest of 10 teenagers.
Police have busted a group involved in motorcycle theft in the district known as the 'Kutaq Gang', with the arrest of 10 teenagers, including three students.
Temerloh district police chief ACP Zundin Mahmood said the group was led by a teenager named Kuntaq, 18, and became active in stealing motorcycles around November last year.
He added that all the suspects, aged between 14 and 18 years were arrested separately during three days of ''Op Lejang'' conducted in the area from May 4.
"During the operation, police found motorcycle frames, engines, and other parts, and all the dismantled parts seized were worth over RM70,000," he said at a press conference at the Temerloh district police headquarters, here, Monday.
Zundin also said six of the suspects tested positive for drugs and initial investigations revealed that the suspects stole the motorcycles to be dismantled before they were sold in parts and the case was being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code which carries a maximum jail term of seven years and a fine, if convicted.
In another development, Zundin said the police arrested two Indonesian nationals aged 30 and 37, members of a gang believed to be involved in robbery in Kampung Chengkenik here on May 9.
Police also seized cash amounting to RM3,000, jewellery and four mobile phones from the suspects and the case was being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code which carries 20 years imprisonment and whipping, upon conviction.
