Three suspected drug addicts drown after jumping into river
The bodies had been handed over to the police and sent to Tanjong Karang Hospital for post mortem.
Three suspected drug addicts drowned when they jumped into Sungai Tengi in Tanjong Karang near here to avoid arrest during a police raid in the area Thursday.
Selangor Fire and Rescue assistant director (operation) Mohd Sani Harul said the incident occurred about 3 pm when police conducted a raid at a suspected drug haunt in Kampung Bagan Cina.
"The Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call at 3.13 pm and arrived at the scene about 30 minutes later," he said in a statement today.
He said the body of the first victim was recovered at 11.22 pm Thursday, while the bodies of the second and third victim was found at 2.25 am and 4.13 am, respectively, Friday.
However, he said, the identities of the victims could not be ascertained as no personal document was found on them.
The bodies had been handed over to the police and sent to Tanjong Karang Hospital for post mortem.
