Thunderstorms uproot several trees in Sungai Petani

Several trees reportedly were uprooted during thunderstorms between 6pm and 10pm in several areas, here, yesterday.

Kuala Muda district civil defence officer, Lt.M (PA) Azahar Ahmad said the affected areas included Jalan Bandar Perdana, Sekolah Kebangsaan Bandar Puteri Jaya and Taman Keladi.

"A tree fell onto a house in Lorong Angsana, Taman Keladi, but fortunately no injuries were reported.

"The civil defence team together with the police and fire and rescue team have removed the uprooted trees and cleared the roads in the affected areas," he told Bernama today.
