Tian Chua fined for insulting police officer

Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice-president Tian Chua was fined RM3,000, in default three months' jail, by the Sessions Court here today after he was found guilty of insulting the modesty of a police officer.
Judge Yasmin Abdul Razak handed down the sentence on Tian Chua after finding that the prosecution had succeeded in establishing the case beyond reasonable doubts.
Tian Chua, who is Batu Member of Parliament, was charged with uttering words at Petaling Jaya police officer DSP Glenn A. Sinappah with intention to insult his modesty.
The offence was committed at the main exit of Armada Hotel at 7.45 pm on April 14, 2014.
The charge, under Section 509 of the Penal Code, provides an imprisonment for up to five years, or fine, or both, upon conviction. -- Bernama
