Todd Kelly's Nissan Altima Strikes back!
This time Todd Kelly is determined to defend his pole position. Will he succeed?
Here's the V8 Supercar Street Challenge 3
It was the last race for the five drivers, and Todd Kelly in the Altima is determined to keep his pole position having lost out to Chaz Mostert both times in Challenge 1 and Challenge 2.
When the red lights went out Kelly defended himself brilliantly but that did not stop the flying McLaughlin and Lowndes to challenge him for his position. McLaughlin was the only other driver who managed to take P1 away from the fired up Kelly but lost it after a few laps back to the Altima driver.
Davison on the other hand jumped the entire field and even lead the challenge for a few laps before Kelly dethroned him again. Lowndes’ Holden could not keep up with the rest of the field and came home in fifth.
Kelly had to defend his P1 until the end of race from McLaughlin in the Volvo. The Altima had to avoid the Volvo’s last lap lunge and ran out wide and so close to the barriers. But the veteran driver had pulled out all his experience to maintain the position until the end of the race.
With two wins under his belt, Mostert had earned himself the right to jump on the top step of the podium for his Pepsi Max Crew team. McLaughlin is second overall for the Volvo Polestar Racing team while Todd Kelly’s challenge win puts him and his Nissan Motorsports team in third.
Congratulations to the winners, perhaps we would see the V8 Supercar series come to Malaysia next year as part of the series and not just a demo!
