An eight-month-old baby boy was killed while his father was injured after their vehicle was involved in an accident with a lorry and five other cars at Km 55.8 Jalan Mersing - Batu Pahat, Kluang, Saturday.
Kluang district police chief, ACP Mohamad Laham, said the baby, Nur Muhris Anas Anuar who was seriously injured died on the way to Kluang Hospital. His father, Anuar Geman@Wagiman, 36, suffered minor injuries.
Mohamad Laham said in the 11.50am incident, the lorry driven by a local man was heading towards Mersing.
The lorry hit the rear of a Toyota Vios car before trying to dodge to the left of the road, but failed to do so due to brake problems.
He then veered to the left of the road and hit the car carrying Nur Muhris and his father who had stopped by the side of the road, before ramming into three other vehicles parked in front of a home appliance store.
Mohammad Laham said the 33-year-old lorry driver was detained and will be remanded Sunday.
