Toddler found drowned in canal

Kota Bharu district police chief ACP Abdul Rahim Daud when contacted said a Crime Prevention Patrol team from the Melor police station was dispatched to the scene after police received a report on the incident at 4.33 pm.

''The victim Muhammad Huffaz Wafri Mohd Zulfika, who was fully clothed, was found floating in the canal which was located about 10 metres from his home.

''Firemen from the Fire and Rescue Department fished the toddler out of the canal and a Mahligai Health Clinic personnel confirmed that he had died,'' he said adding that the body was taken to the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital for a post-mortem.

Abdul Rahim said based on the report, the family members of the victim were not aware when the toddler had left the house, and only found out when a neighbour informed them at 4.45 pm that the victim was found drowned at the canal.
